Löwin was born March 2014 shortly after local Austin favorite, The Couch, decided to call it quits. Singer/guitarist Sara Houser’s new endeavor takes their moniker from the German word for “lioness.” Löwin’s sound can be described as a balance between the masculine and the feminine with loud guitars and bombastic arrangements coupled with delicate melodies and textures. Much like the band’s spirit animal, Löwin’s songs stem from the duality of fierce and gentle and the idea that those two sentiments don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Since the band’s inception, Löwin has been lucky to play some amazing local spots including tapings with The Good Music Club, DaveTV, and CityGram Mag’s House Sounds. They have been The Deli’s Artist of the Month and were voted Artist of the Year in 2015 by local peers in the music scene.
"Bantam Foxes have in just two years developed a sound that draws no easy comparisons in the canon of New Orleans rock 'n' roll. Members Sam McCabe (guitar, vocals), Collin McCabe (bass, vocals), and Jared Marcell (drums) combine wailing, urgent lyrics above fuzzy, grungy guitars and a pulsing backbeat in songs infused with blues, punk, and garage rock."
